Scope of project
As part of ongoing energy efficiency improvements and reliability upgrades at Bassetlaw Hospital, the existing heating plant was upgraded through the replacement of four gas-fired boilers. The works were carried out to enhance system performance, improve reliability and ensure compliance with current standards.
Overview
Working within a live fully functional hospital environment we had to schedule and phase the work to avoid disruption to clinical services and maintain the environmental comfort for diverse use. This required the integration of all new equipment with the existing. Careful planning ensured smooth transition between old and new systems. With all safety considerations and strict adherence to the hospital’s safety protocols and permits-to-work.
Work undertaken
The project included the following key activities decommissioning and removal of 4 large existing gas-fired boilers.
The supply and installation of 4 new high-efficiency gas boilers sized to meet the hospital’s heating demand. The installation of new pipework and valves to integrate the new boilers into the existing heating system in phased and controlled manner. Finally, the connection to existing building control services while ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations.
The project demonstrated the high level of technical coordination, communication and team work with the hospital, main contractors and suppliers.
